The Cutting Edge … A DEVOTIONAL MINISTRY OF GLOBAL TRAINING NETWORK DEATH
Death comes I think as a surprise
Unbidden, undesired, unwanted
It extinguishes the aura of invincibility
It quiets the breath of life
Death is final, complete, thorough
Feared above all else
Foreign to man’s nature
A forbidding, unwelcome stranger
Death is a contradiction
An unexplainable phenomenon
It is an invader, a relentless foe
It waits on no one
Death is the enemy, the final one
It is to be destroyed, eradicated, removed
Jesus said it was the last enemy to be conquered
Life He promises will overcome death
God created man to live, not to die
His intention was for man to enjoy life forever
Death came by man’s choice
Life by God’s
To free man from this insidious foe
God became Man
Death enveloped Jesus on Calvary
Can it be that God did die? For you, for me?
Death reigned supreme in that tragic moment
Exulted, exalted, absolute
Demons rejoiced while they saw Him die
The devil and his angels looked proudly on
Ah, but in the frailty of His humanity
Jesus defeated death on the Cross
He took upon Himself our sins
To bear our shame
In the darkness of that day
God’s love never shown brighter
The Cross stands barren
The grave lies empty
Crowned in heaven
Sits our resurrected Lord
Death has been overwhelmed with life
Our bondage to fear removed
There is a time to live
A time to die
Life with all its pleasures is but a shell
Of what waits up there
Life stopped here is but an adventure
A great and grand journey begun
Lifted to glory on the wings of angels
To share with Christ the glories of heaven
To see our Savior face to face
To enjoy His eternal grace
To new and grander tasks we go
Like angels on high
No tears to wipe
No pain to bear
To enjoy God’s presence
And dance the heaven’s dance with all the saints
Forever and ever and ever
